A Letter to Our Sponsors

August, 2018

Dear Friends,

As we look forward to our Twenty Fifth Anniversary season, we want to thank you for your steadfast and generous support for the Cultural Fund. Since its founding in 1994, the Fund has sponsored over 140 events, including performances, lectures, exhibitions, and film screenings in various venues throughout the Washington metro area. The Sunday Music Series, which grew out of an initiative to raise funds for instruments for music schools in Ukraine, has since presented an array of both seasoned artists and emerging talent. Through our programming, we have sought to spotlight the music of Ukrainian composers as a reflection of Ukraine’s rich and diverse musical tradition. That tradition will be on display during the 2018-2019 season.

The season opens on September 30 with a recital by the young award winning pianist Pavlo Gintov, described by a critic as “a poet of the keyboard”. On October 21, Alexander, Danylo and Larissa Fedoryka, founders of the wildly popular Scythian band, will bring their high energy and and exhuberant spirit to The Lyceum. On March 17, 2019 we will bring back soprano Stefania Dovhan. Since Stefania last performed in Washington in 2001, she has enjoyed a successful career, with engagements at major opera houses in the United States and Europe. Finally, to cap our jubilee season, we plan to present from Kyiv, Tania Mazur and Serhii Shamray of the B&B Project, who play traditional Western and Ukrainian classical music, as well as folk and popular music on the bandura and bayan. As part of our mission to promote Ukrainian culture more broadly, we hope to organize events such as film screenings and book presentations. Stay tuned.

We hope that you will become sponsors of our Sunday Music Series. Please support us by becoming a sponsor at the following levels: Individual $100) (couples $200); Connoisseur ($500); Gold ($1000); Platinum ($2000). Your sponsorship at the higher levels will enable the Cultural Fund to pursue other initiatives. All sponsors will have free admission to the Music Series and will be listed in our programs. Your contribution is tax-deductible. Please send your check made out to TWGCF c/o Rosalie Norair, 9311 Persimmon Tree Road, Potomac, MD 20854

Appreciatively yours,

Christine Lucyk and Laryssa Courtney
