A Letter to Our Sponsors

August 15, 2019

Dear Friends of the Cultural Fund,

The 25th Anniversary Sunday Music Series was a great success. Our featured artists were exceptional, and the concerts were very well attended. We awarded  long-time committee members Yaro Bihun, Rosalie Norair and Chrystia Sonevytsky for their outstanding service to the Cultural Fund, and enjoyed meeting the artists and socializing with old and new friends at the gracious receptions following each of the events.

We have planned an exciting new season of music which will begin on Sept. 29 with Solomia (Olena Karpenko) from Kyiv, a talented and versatile singer and composer, who studied voice at the National Academy of Ukraine. Our very own Washington-based a cappella singing group Spiv- Zhyttia will follow with a concert on Nov. 10, along with bandurist Larisa Pastuchiv and guitarist/songwriter Victor Morozov. On March 15, violinist Nazar Pylatiuk, from Lviv, will captivate us with a program of music by Bach, Kreisler, Paganini, Skoryk, Vivaldi and others. The final concert on May 3 will feature the acclaimed pianist Stanislav Khristenko from Kharkiv, currently residing in Maryland, who was Artist in Residence at the Washington Conservatory last year and is the organizer and conductor of Nova Sinfonietta, a chamber orchestra in Ukraine.

Please mark your calendars for these recitals and become sponsors of the 2019-2020 Sunday Music Series. Consider becoming a sponsor at one of the higher levels so that we can also organize book talks and once again bring Ukrainian theatre and art back to Washington.
